Grippers exists to give financial help to enable those who are recovering from psychosis to participate in educational and outward-bound projects, sports and art activities and courses, to encourage confidence and a return to normal life.
There are six trustees who meet regularly to consider applications and the allocation of funds. The trustees also organise many of the fund-raising events. The capital raised enables the trustees to respond to the requests for financial help from the mental health organisations. Individual sufferers can also apply.
Amongst the many activities Grippers has funded are college courses, pottery classes, cycling and two annual residential courses to help rehabilitate social engagement and mental and physical confidence.
